I've got a WK Caprice with the telematics system but the service is disconnected. What I'd like to do is put a new SIM in the unit and program the keys to dial my road side assistance provider when I press 'holden assist' and to dial '000' when I press the emergency button. Anyone got any ideas how to program these things?

Not sure this has any use other than as a paperweight. Worked before I took it out of my car a couple of years ago but you'll never get an analog phone activated anymore if you don't already have it and my guess is swapping the TCU means "reactivation" is required. $10 shipped (in the US). Sorry I don't think even via tech2 you can do this as its a firmware based instruction within the telematics system.. Mind thinking of it.. If you can read the original sim and see how the contacts are entered you may be able to simply name the two new contacts the same. It's a bit of a reach as I know nothing about them plus if they even use traditional means for the comms.

So, I'm being inquisitive here and not oppositional. However, I thought the difference between the telematics units went away with the LCI. As I understand it, pre-LCI the telematics unit was a CDMA chip that worked on Verizon's network. When BMW implemented the Googlemaps link, they supposedly went to a similar system across cars (GSM). Just as a GSM phone works in mutiple countries, ...
