I normally get my tax credits paid into my bank on a tuesday. Last week I called them to change the bank account that the money goes into. This week I received my normal amount of tax credits on the normal Tuesday into my old bank account (as the advisor had said would happen) but then on Thursday found the normal amount has also been paid into my new account? Thus I got two payments this week....

At the moment my DH works full time and I work PT. We get help in the form of Tax Credits. DH is about to be made redundant and will receive a payout of about 5K untaxed and around another 5K which includes holiday pay and 9 weeks notice (which he is not required to work) this will be taxable. My first question is when can he sign on and receive JSA (contribution based) as soon as he stops ...

Hi, just hoping someone might be able to help with my query. Myself and my husband have a Limited Company that usually makes a small profit. We have been claiming Working Tax Credits to top up the salary which we pay ourselves - which is the basic amount of about £500 each per month (each). At this year end however (May 09) the company made a loss of about £8k. So my query is does anyone know if...

I currently work part time (20 hours), I live with my partner and step daughter. During the christmas period, work is getting busy and my manager wants to know if I can do any over time. I can't call the council or inland revenue because i always get put on hold and I'd rather not have a huge phone bill come January. What extra work can I actually do without getting into trouble with ...

Hi everyone, I'm sure someone will have asked this before but I've had a look and can't find the answer... My partner's looking at going self-employed. Currently, the household income is just over £60k so we get virtually nothing on tax credits. If he went self-employed though, how would tax credits look at it? How do they estimate your first year's income to decide if you're entitled?...

Hi all! I've decidedto come here as I've had useful advice for myself before now and so thought I'd give it a bash for my mum. My brothers girlfriend informed her the other day that she may be entitled to working tax credits with her earnings as she is now workingover 16 hours per week. However, I'm not convinced as I don't quite understand the ins and outs of what entitles you to be ...
