Hey everyone! I did a quick forum search and found nothing on the subject. I want to buy this: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0121939&cat id= But my computer only does 2channel toslink output. I need this as I want to use this system as my speakers. Also, 5.1, 7.1 sound cards usually only do 2ch toslink so I don't know how to find any helpful info. I also need something cheap...

I have a home theatre in a box with no HDMI inputs (only digital optical audio input) and a 42" plasma monitor with only one HDMI input (no speakers are connected to the monitor, so all audio must play through the HTIB via toslink. I want to add more HDMI devices via an automatic HDMI switch with at least 3 HDMI inputs. However, it must be able to output the audio via the toslink cable, ...

I ran a toslink cable (monoprice 30 ft) in wall from my computer desk to my entertainment center. I did this before I sheetrocked so it is permanently in the wall. Well the plug on one end broke and I would like to know if it is possible to splice a new end onto it and if so where can I find one or can I just take the plug off another cable to try and repair it. Thanks

First post here! I just got a new Mac mini over the weekend and love it. I have a question about Toslink cables though. I know what kind you need and all, but what makes for a good cable? It seems like there are a bunch of cheap ones out there. Is there like a standard, thickness or something that I should be looking for? I don't want to spend a bunch of money and get "Mosterfied", but I want ...

I will recently buy Adam S3a's professional studio monitors. I have an onboard TOSLINK SPDIF output on my motherboard which goes to my SPDIF input of my Yamaha RX-V363. The only way I see this happening is using the SPDIF Coax output of my receiver and buy a SPDIF Coax to XLR cable. The thing is, there's only one SPDIF Coax output, how will I connect my right and left speakers with one ...

So far the receiver only plays everything back in 2.0 channel sound. I went to Amazon to buy a movie that was specifically coded to 5.1 but it still played back in 2.0 What am I doing wrong?? in ...

Sorry if this has been answered before, I'm really new at this and hardly even know what to google to find answers. Basically I have my computer connected to my Onkyo sound system using a toslink SPDIF optical cable, and I have several Multichannel WAV files on my computer that I would like to play through my 7.1 surround sound speakers. When I attempt to play the files all I get is ...

I don't need any extra inputs as it's just hooking up to my computer. I do however need those potential software solutions you speak of. Does anyone already do this? Converting every file is not an option. It's just, in my sound properties, it says that I only have 2ch 192khz PCM/Windows Media/DTS audio. I need five more of these channels, even if they are software processed. I will check ...

I also recommend getting a Toslink mini adapter plug is as it helps you to correctly orient your cable and provide less strain on the connector if the digital audio out in the computer is in an awkward place: http://mymediaexperience.com/tip-enjoy-digital-aud io-with-toslink-optical-mini-adapter/

It seems the receiver in Transporter just needed more light. If the ends weren't well aligned, didn't butt close enough together, had poorly polished surfaces, or weren't of a transmissive enough material then that would explain the difference. I'm not really an optics expert, but then again I suspect neither are the guys who manufacture plastic toslink adaptors...
