Alright, I'm looking at a few options. One, th400/205 locally. Has the correct adapter, etc, but the TH400 is in need of rebuild. Comes with torque converter Two, th400/203 two hours away. Everything functions, but not torque converter and I don't want a 203. Three, which I think I'll use, is acquire both setups. Aside from swapping the adapter for the 205 from the bad tranny ...

Hey folks...I did some searching but still have a question. I'm building a 48 chevy p/u with a 355/th400. The tranny didn't want to shift out of 1st. I'm going to check the vacuum tonight to make sure that isn't the problem but I was wondering...I don't have the proper hookup for the kickdown so I just left it off completely. Would the fact that there isn't a connection at all affect the ...

I have searched and found several different answers to this question.... I did a T56>TH400 conversion a couple months ago. Everything went very well. I had a custom driveline made to the proper length, a torque converter built with the proper spacer, a SFI flexplate from Hughes (with the proper holes so the converter bolts lined up perfectly too) I didnt skimp anywhere. I installed the ...

Howdy, we all know that the vaccum modulator is the big sticking point for those who want a TH400 and automatic shifts. There is the diesel cable modulator option and the full manual valve body option as definate alternatives. There is also the check valve and pinhole leak method to keep vaccum from being trapped in the modulator on a quick rise to boost. My thought was what about an ...

DETAILS: TH400 behind a mild 454, bought this transmission as a rebuilt core with a "shift kit" and no other mods. Running a stock torque converter and a B&M ratchet shifter which I like to manually shift due to it shifting too early (no kick down switch either). Vac modulator is connected, no leaks. PROBLEM: Noticed recently that it seems to slip real bad when I ratchet into second gear ...

Ok before you all shoot me here me out. I going to be putting a 3.55 rear gear in the truck along with a BUILT TH400 with a trans-brake. so far everyone I have talked to says a T-brake in an E4OD is a no no. I have researched it and made some calls and I can be in a built TH400 for about half of what a built E4OD costs!! plus less weight.. Any goods or bads are welcomed!!
