I was wanting it for a rotary phase convertor but had second thoughts because of having to make a frame for it. The motor turned like a new one. Does anyone have any experience with this brand and type of motor. Im wondering about ...

"C & E" wrote in message ... OK, I'll answer your question first. "Because the factory rebuilt Ridgid BS1401 was all that I could afford". I picked it up from the Cummins traveling tool show a few years ago and have been tricking it out little by little (kinda like souping up a Vega). I have a 6" riser installed and resawing is painfully slow. So, a three part question;...

Is this lathe too small for plug making? I can get it bought and shipped for $166 bucks. 1/4 hp though? Should I wait and save for a slightly larger model? It's on the Grizzly site. Didn't want to post a link. I don't see how you can secure this down to a bench either? Am I missing something? Thanks for any help guys. G9247 VS Mini Wood Lathe Features: Variable speed ...

A comment about dust control reminded me of a cabinet base I built for a Sears 6 X 48" belt sander with 10" disk. The sander came with a metal-legged stand and a little gizmo that was intended to catch some dust with a shop vac, but was still the dirtiest thing in the shop.
