... what film will that be? ATM, I'd say Nine , but I guess it could happen with Up in the Air as well. Farmiga is kind of due in some respects. I don't think it will be Precious . And I didn't ask this in the Supporting Actress thread because I wanted to do a poll. Not to mention that thread keeps on getting off-topic....

Edit : apparently Portman is going supporting and Gyllenhaal is going lead. It seems people think the category is all locked up with Mo'Nique, Moore, Kendrick, Cruz and Dench, but I think the year offers such a eclectic, varied mixed and variety of strong contenders that some surprises are bound to pop up. In all honesty the year reminds me of 1999, which had so many great performances and a ...

So, I saw Precious tonight. It's a great movie, I'm not sure if it is better than The Hurt Locker, but it's solid. The highlight of the film is the extraordinary acting, specifically by Mo'Nique. I have come to the conclusion that she owns the Supporting Actress category. Mariah Carey was also a pleasant surprise. Like I said, I saw The Hurt Locker as well. Jeremy Renner deserves a Best ...

Of course it's the impact that is the main thing but Moore doesn't have the material to work with in A Single Man, which is probably why she's going to lose yet again. Six inches is perfectly adequate. More is vulgar.

Tell me something I don't know. God, I hope next year's Oscars won't be too boring and predictable. "I think the elevator in The Shining was having that week of the month."

It's a fine set of nominees. I would have gone with Keener from that list. Lock up the lark, love, and pin back the sky; we need a space in which to work and sing and die.
