I have a 74 SB that wont start.. About 2 years ago while driving into town it made a weird noise and shut down 15-20 seconds later and has been in the garage ever since.. We have now finally started trying to diagnose the problem. Purchased and installed a new battery.. now when I turn the key all I get is a loud click. We have tried hitting the starter and nothing. We are now trying...

Does anyone have the electronic blower kit to increase the heat in the winter? I am really cold when the weather gets cold and want to add more heat. The plug in kind of heater, just isn't enough for me. I saw one in JC Whitney, but it had only one review at the time. It costs a little over 100 bucks and I don't want to buy junk. Wondering if anyone had any ideas??????????? Thanks!

I have a 74 Super Beetle that my beloved PO (I hope they die in a fire) did a bad one window install. From what I understand they are all bad, but this one is really bad. My doors are cracked where the pillar was. It makes me sad. I know a young lady who has a nice pair of door from a 69 regular beetle. Will these fit my super without causing me to take to drinking? Thanks.

On my 71 bug i have a gray wire that comes from the ignition switch up into the trunk with a female spade connector.Does anyone know where it connects to , it isn't shown in the manual or on the samba wiring links , i'm not sure but it may have something to do with the door buzzer ? also that buzzer sounds with the door open with or without the key in the ignition . Is it the same problem , any ...

I just replaced the fuel sending unit on my 78 super beetle, although no matter what I try it is leaking when the tank is full. All suggestions welcomed I also noticed that the o-ring seal on the old sending unit seems to be thicker than the new one. The old seal is cracked so using it is not an option. Does anyone know whether there are different thickness's for this seal?

Ok, So we are starting another project. WE have a 1974 super beetle that we want to install a 1972 porsche 914 type 4 engine. I know I have seen people on here with pictures of this kind of install. We have gotten the engine connected to the trans and slid it into place, just for mock up. Can some one help us out with the way they mounted the engine in the car, and what kind of issues did...

I recently bought a 72 Super and the owner gave me the original old wheels with it. They have surface rust and a few dings that can probably be bent back. Is there any reason to keep these around? I was just going to throw them out but would it be worth trying to get a case of beer for them or selling them? Just not sure if these would be of value for any reason and I don't want to send them ...

Just went to the website Bug's n' Pugs linked too and found something really interesting, a heater that gets it's heat from the engine oil, much like the heater in a water cooled car gets heat from the coolant. Another big plus is that you can use the thing in the summer to help cool the engine. My biggest concern with it is that it would let the engine get too cool.

Most VW carbs don't have their part number tags on them anymore and you have to go by the base flange number to see what version of the carb it was. The 113129031k distributor, looking it up here, looks like that one was a 1973 California manual tranny unit with base flange number 325-3 and was matched to the 113905205AN (0231167070 Bosch#) - a DVDA distributor. I can't find any info on ...

Personal preferences aside from the more aerodynamic 1303, they can be slammed quite easily. The rear suspension is identicle to standard Beetles. TopLine makes products for lowering a Super and I will say from personal experience they are great and their products are great. The early Supers differ slightly from the later Supers in the set-up of their struts. I believe the change came mid-...

Here's my Japan trip. I took the overnight bus to Busan. I got on the jet powered Beetle hydrofoil. I traded my exchange thingy for my rail pass and headed northeast to see if I could find the night time kite flying pointed out to me by Kitekid. I couldn't figure out where it was or even if it was really happening. I walked around the area and made a note of where the John Lennon museum ...
