Subutex - Topic profile

Hi. Is anyone after the 8mg subutex? its the same as temgesic only they are 0.2mg and subutex is 8mg. i know they hard to get hold of. can send test first. have about 50 left

This is the deal. I got addicted to vicodin in 2002 and took it but never went over 4 regular strength a day (as if that is something to be proud of). Anyway I finally went to a sub doctor ad he gave me 2mg of subutex and I ended up going up to 8-12 mg a day for a long time (about 2 years) I have finally tapered way down to about 1 mg a day or less. I really want to get off of this crap ...

My son so far is willing to go back on Subutex this time he is gonna try a therapist. Last time he was willing but couldnt find one on his insurance, even if it breaks me I will pay the 150 a session so he gets the help he needs. Anyway I cant recall if its a quarter or a half for the start dose of subutex after 24 hours of opiate use, do I even have to do that or can he just take one whole one?...

I've had my ups and downs with my addiction vics, percs, blues, hydrocodone. I've relapsed about 10 times. Thank you for your story. I totally agree with you in that we still have to do the mental work and commit ourselves to making changes that will improve our own lives. Suboxone is not a miracle drug. Maggie, I think that if you asked your doc about that medication I was prescribed you would be off subs in about 10 days. It is really good for anxiety and is not a benzo. I have to take my subs at 6:30 in the morning. I just tried to wait and had to take it at 7:15am :) I have 1 or more weeks of 2mgs and than I go down to 1mg. Not sure if I will wait 3 or 4 weeks on 2mgs.

When I was detoxing off of methadone, after I got to 30 mgs, they had me go cold turkey for two days in the hospital before they would give me my first dose of Suboxone, because it opiate antagonist. Couple things ... First off, 24mg/day is a HUGE dose. That's enough for somebody who's been shooting a gram or more smack/day. If you give me an idea of what his usage level/drug of choice/length of use has been, I can give you a 'guess' of what's appropriate. But it's better to involve a doctor in this process.
