I agree with reply2psg, perfect answer, this question mainly test for meaning. However, I didn't understand why you eliminated D(as said by mitzi), grund+verb is a rule only as a object. but as a subject S-V and V-S both are fine. For eg: A man had been Fcuk for milk stealing(object + verb/gerund: INCORRECT) A man had been Fcuk for stealing milk(verb/gerun + Object: Perfectly CORRECT) ...

"sitar" is the direct object of the verb "use," whose subject (and thus the sentence's) is "they."
