I don't usually use subdomains for anything, but I'm playing around with a project that will revolve around one and need some insight here. The main domain is out of the sandbox, has been an active site for 2-3 years. I'm planning to create a subdomain on it for a new project and want to know if the subdomain would be sandboxed as if it were a new domain, or will it be out of the ...

With some help from the helpdesk, I have now set up a subdomain on my main website to access my Smugmug site. This works fine. However, I am now wondering how best to deal with this in relation to Google sitemaps and Google indexing. From a Google POV, I would like my smugmug subdomain to be seen as a part of my main site. I presume I can do this by including referring links to it on the ...

Quick question. if I wanted to secure the whole subdomain in nginx, would I just add this to my sites-available config file: # Password Protect important Directories location ~ /.* { auth_basic "Restricted"; auth_basic_user_file /usr/local/nginx/secure/subdomainname/passwd; } Or am I missing something? Like I said, just trying to password ...

I have a question about adding subdomain to the account. Where does the subdomain folder go? Does it go inside of the main domain folder or outside of it?

I'm looking at the CDN support. Before enabling CDN support, I already load my images from an img subdomain. I'd prefer to keep this img subdomain clean and have a separate subdomain for jss and CSS content. Is this possible with the current functionality? I experimented with it a bit but it tried to overwrite my img subdomain URL with the one provided in the CDN settings.

I have an established .co.uk website for a French Gascony chateau aimed at English customers. The site is doing really well in the serps for most local search terms but the customer now wants a French version of the site to attract French custom. The site is www.chateaudeplehaut.co.uk and I am thinking of adding a subdomain with the exact same content only in French:...

Am not quite sure if this is the right place to post this, but I have a French chateau site for an English person who's gone to France and set up a chateau largely for English guests. The site is an extablished .co.uk site, hosted in England, that's doing well in the serps for most local searches from England. The customer now wants to have a French version of the site to attract more French...

Regarding the translation - there are little clues in the phrasing, suggesting that a lot of the original material was in French - perhaps the originals are still available.

Hi, We are building a large number of mini sites (typically about 10 pages per mini site) around a specific theme. I have heard about multisite but I think it will be overhead for our purposes. Basically, what we want is this: 1) each site is a subdomain of the main site (topic1.mydomain.com/node, node1, node2, ...) 2) it should be easy to set up a new 'subdomain' project without the...

I want to remove a subdomain from my website. The reason is it's not successful and nobody's is using that service. Google has indexed around 5300 pages from that subdomain. What's the best bet to remove the entire subdomain and still not hurt the search engines/google?
