If I have x moles of magnesium and y moles of a monoprotic strong acid (I'm talking about something like 0.03 moles or less of each reactant with the magnesium being the limiting reactant) the there's gonna be a noticable pH change right? Because I remember my teacher showing us the titration curve of a strong acid titrated with a strong base, there was ...

Why would the smallest cation with the greatest charge yield the strongest acid in aqueous solution? i.e. Fe+3 is stronger acid than Ca+2, Cu+2, and Zn+2.

Hi I've got this equilibrium AgBr(s) + 2NH 3 (aq)  [Ag(NH 3 ) 2 ] + (aq) + Br - (aq) and I'm asked to predict the direction (if any) of the equilibrium when strong acid is added. Well, I know NH 3 is the stronger base, which might causes the equilibrium to shift towards the reactants (to produce more base to neutralize the added acid). However, some of my classmates think that the ...

I have a problem that needs solving...if anyone else has the time please take a look Titration of a weak acid with a strong base. Im titrating an 50 ml of an unknown weak acid with an unknown concentration with NaOH (concentration NaOH 0,2 M) . I’ve been given a titration curve: Im supposed to get the equivalence point out of this curve…Im guessing its between 8.5 – 9 (right?). I need to ...

Once again, my chemistry texts failed to provide a satisfactory answer to my dilemma: When titrating a weak acid with a strong base, I know that the pH at the equivalence point will be higher than pH 7, since the strong base releases all its OH- ions while the weak acid only disassociates partially. But here is my problem: wouldn't the OH- and H+ form water, and thus, by Le Chatelier's ...

I hate to appear flippant but it's because it's diluted. How does asking this anonymously serve a purpose?...
