First I'd like to thank everyone that answers my what seem to be endless questions. You guys have truly inspired me. I have lost about 30lbs in about 12 weeks. I am extremely obese (SW 282 CW 251) and have a long, long ways to go. I have added exercise to my daily regime. I am doing a 5k walk everyday, starting time was 1:01 and now it takes me about :54 (I know still slow, but that's all I ...

October 30 ? November 02, 2008 Anybody going? Do you know what separates the top 5% coaches and trainers in the industry from the rest? Continuing education. Yeah, it's expensive and a hassle to get out there, but you can't put a price on the knowledge acquired in such conferences. http://www.nsca-lift.org/icst2008/

Hello, everyone! I was just wondering if I should up the number of days I do strength training. Currently, I do spin class Mon.-Wed.-Fri. I do kick boxing class Sun. And I do body sculpt (strength training) Tue.-Thu. Each class is 55 mins. to an hour. Every day, each of these classes is different. The instructors do a fabulous job of varying the class's activities, so it's never the ...

clickclickbooM's Strength Training Journal Hello there, I decided to keep another journal after my Starting Strength one. I made pretty good gains in a short period of time, after a long period of time wasting before that. SS got boring and gains started to come to a halt (I think this was end of 8th week of being on it). I plan on covering ...

I'm starting weight training again twice a week in preparation for the cross-country ski season. 2 - 3 weeks getting used to weights again (3/4 sets at 10 reps) 3-4 weeks max strength (3/4 sets at 7/8 reps) rest of the season strength endurance (3/4 sets of light weights with 30-40 reps) or body weight circuits. Once the snow arrives weights may only be once a week. I'll probably ...

If you are just joining, usually places will give you a complimentary personal training session, or you can walk around with a gym rep and ask questions about the equipment, let them show you around. And people watch! That's a great way to learn! I have picked up some new/different exercising by watching the more experienced people at the gym.

I would suggest getting a workout dvd that includes strength training. Some good ones are The Firm, The Abs Diet Workout 2, or any of The Biggest Loser dvd's. Get yourself some hand weights in various sizes (check the back of the dvd for suggested sizes). Good luck!
