I'm loving all my games this year... but I'm sorta bummed at how none of them really explore the potential of video games for storytelling. They're interactive media, for goodness sakes - over 9000 times more possibilities than music, books, or movies! Bungie tried new things with ODST, but they didn't go far enough. I didn't feel the superintendant's presence. Sadie's story wasn't well ...

Wasn't really sure where to throw this thread, but here it is. I'm pretty new to photography, and very new to SLR. I've had mine a mere 3 months. The education process has been 3 years in the making though. At any rate, a little storytelling: I live in Minnesota, and although winter arrived a little late this year, it showed up in force. Temps dropped rapidly and only a week or...

If you're willing to go out and fool around with your camera in that, you'll probably go far. Fun, wasn't it? I like that 4th one best but the last two are good too.
The trouble is that storytelling/reading and story itself have got bogged down with the demands of the curriculum. They have lost their primary role of giving pleasure and providing insights into life. When did this happen? When did in-depth weeks-long cross-curricular stuff take over from simply hearing and reading lots and lots of stories? I feel very passionately about this but ...

( Also depends on the story \(trying\) to be told. Is it a "Revenge" story? "My Kung-fu is stronger than yours"? "That title rightfully belongs to ME"? What story was being told changed by who was telling that tale. Was there a better "Kung-fu" story than Funk vs Brisco? Maybe Robinson vs Gagne, or \(going back even further\) Gotch vs Thesz, but.... ,The Traveller a fan since '68...

If the week is more generally creative and integrated, I can offer a day's puppetry workshop for a class, on the theme of reading/story telling, involving a class learning the skills of rod puppetry, leading to a stage performance of 2-3 elements, including themed songs or adapting a given story as a play...

If you and the idiot writer of that show can't see how great storytelling and entertainment are precisely one and the same, then there is simply no hope for the human race. Period. ||||||||||||||| ||||| | |||
