I use Windows XP Service Pack 3 on my computer which i think is the root cause of all the problems. Hello everyone. I am flying for a 3 months trip to east Africa. I am looking for a portable device, that can read CF cards. Im using san disk extreme 4 CF 16 GB card. I take most of my pictures in RAW, which means i need a big hard drive. Moreover, i am looking for the cheapest most reliable device (its not important for me if i cant view the photos on the device's screen) I found out a few ...

Recently purchased a High Speed USB 2.0 and can not get the device to fully install on my system. The drive is apparently fully P&P with my OS and no software needed to install.   Hello, A challenge: I have a (RAM) disk, which is exposed as a USB mass storage device. Therefore, the desktop computer accesses my disk as a SCSI block device. Also, I mounted the same disk using the FATFS and I can see files under WinCE, which have been just copied over USB from the desktop. So far, so good. Now: if I create a...

Many thanks evongugg! So, do the same limitations apply to portable disks using usb ports instead of eSata? Or at least current portable hard drives can take full advantage of usb 2.0 capacities? Many thanks in advance Francis

Test your external drive by connecting it to the computer which you know is good. If it works fine then there is possibility of Virus present on your computer which is not allowing you to access any mass storage device. Scan your computer with a UPDATED antivirus and clean the infected files. Then try to connect the device which i am sure will be detected.

No, it's no F5 issue - it doesn't work, if the USB mass storage asynchronously creates files. I think the reason for it is the disk cache of the desktop Windows (XP), which caches blocks. In these block, there are FAT directory entries as well as file data. The disk cache has no means to renew blocks, which have been remotely changed (...

I'll put in my 2 cents... I have 2 Nexto's, the ND2525 (very fast), and the ND2700 (slower, but has SD card slot as well as the CF slot on the 2525). Using theses two devices, you can copy your images to one, and move them to the other, and be done, or you can, if you have enough memory cards, just copy to 1 of theses devices, that way you carry one, for your backup of the cards, and keep the ...

I've seen this a lot with flash drives, as well as hard drives. Sometimes I got lucky by right clicking it in the devmgr and uninstalling, scanning for hardware changes, and letting windows reinstall the drivers. I've seen this with external hdd's a few times, and it turned out to be the controller in the enclosure crapped out (usually) or the data cable to the hdd was loose (twice). you could ...
