The Stop-Loss program should be stoped! The fact of the matter that the Marines have shortage of Marines is not the fault of the brave man/women who fulfilled the military contract. You've all heard of this yes? Does ANYONE else think it's unfair? My friend Zach spent 15 months in Iraq before coming back to the states. He came back to the States from Iraq- ON my birthday. Which is in December. December of last year. Soldiers are suppose to get at least one year of "Recovery" by law. But no. Guess what, he has to go back. As far as I know? He's already gone. ... |

Just watched the movie "Stop-Loss" last night, about a soldier who comes back from Iraq with the idea that he's put in his time and doesn't have to go back, only to find out on the day that he's supposed to leave the military, they tell him he's been "stop-lossed" - involuntarily kept in (ie "back-door drafted") and will be sent back to Iraq in a week. I was surprised how strong the film was in certain parts. Other parts were very preachy, and the writing was overwritten. The scenes when Phillippe finds that he's been put on a stop-loss are horribly acted (Even by Phillippe, who was otherwise terrific) and horribly written.
