Hello. I was wondering what were the disadvantages and advantages of applying to Steinhardt (specifically, Media and Communication) or to just apply undecided to College of Arts and Sciences. NYU is my number one school, and I wouldn't want my chances of being accepted to be lower because of selecting a certain school. I've read a lot about people saying that students who get accepted to ...

I am a currently a Junior. I attend a visual and performing art's high school. I'm in the Visual department so my portfolio is quite strong. I was wondering, if there is anyone who either is in the program or knows it well, what Studio Art with Steinhardt involves? If it allows students to double major? Really just any sort of inside information. Also, what kind of academic standing should a...

I wanted to major in Media, Culture, and Communication at Steinhardt, but now I'm thinking I might want to design my own major at Gallatin. However, my test scores aren't the best and I was wondering which was harder to get into.

I typically post in the QM section, but I was reading an article about the cyclic model and wanted input on if this model of SteinhardtTurok is widely accepted, is gaining support, has been upgraded, or replaced by something more current?

I posted a thread before asking people to chance me for NYU CAS, but recently I became interested in the Media Communications program. I want to have a major at CAS too but I have to get into the Steinhardt school in order to easily declare the double major at CAS. So I am a freshman at Baruch College with an undeclared major. I am currently taking the typical liberal arts courses (Writing I,...

I'm planning on applying to NYU, which is my #1 choice when it comes to college, and I was wondering if it is harder to get into Stern than Steinhardt. I would love to work in the fields of Marketing or Public Relations, and I figure that I can get a solid education in either of those areas both at Stern and Steinhardt. I would rather study marketing than media, culture, and communication, but I ...

I am an entering Film/TV freshman next year, and although i know NYU says double majoring at Tisch and something at CAS or Steinhardt is possible, does that mean... ...possible in the sense that logistically it works but realistically its not something that is done or possible in the way that people totally can double major and don't actually want to kill themselves? In an ideal ...

I'm sure your are sincere in that you are not sure, but you would benefit from a little more homework. Steinhardt is a PROFESSIONAL school; it's about getting people trained for a carreer. That's a shared characteristic, but everything else is pretty program-specific. Portfolios have to do with Streinhardt Art and Music, but not other Steinhardt undergrad programs (Teaching, Speech Therapy, ...

Well, the second time I saw them was really bad. It was at an indoor ice rink, and was so loud that you literally couldn't even make anything out - you couldn't even keep time with the beat. The sound was just one, big, bouncing-off-the-walls mishmosh. My buddy and I couldn't even hear each other talk when we put our mouths right up to the other's ear with our hands cupped and yelled at the top ...

I think you'll get in to Steinhardt, probably into CAS but if you can up your SAT score (especially in math where you don't have as much of an excuse being international)

A significant background factor to the Ashtekar Sloan paper is a 2006 result by Gary Gibbons and Neil Turok, both at Cambridge at the time. Turok is an eminent cosmologist who recently took over the directorship of Perimeter Institute. Gibbons was Hawking's student and collaborator. He is known both for his work in relativity (black hole radiation, etc) and later in string theory. There is a...
