I Drive a 89 YJ islander, I was up driving in the hills today in the fresh snow when the steering column came unconnected, it happened like right below the u joint on the engine side of the firewall. I put it back together with some effort and drove it home... what do i need to do to fix this so it doesn't happen again?

Will, have the instrument panel loose, simple, like 7 philips screws. Then pulled two large bolts to drop the steering column. However, still not enough clearance to pull the dash out to access the driver dash speaker for replacement. How do I drop it a few more inches or get the instrument cluster out?...

QUESTION: I read your reply about the loose column- I have the same problem except the tilt is locked in place, won't adjust, just wiggles. My turn signal/wiper switch: every since right after the warranty ended (of course), my wipers come on spontaneously and will run for a few minutes and then stop on their own, as tho I pushed the washer, but w/o the water. Turning the switch will stop them. ...

My roomate has a 90 Buick Century. He is a retard. Those are the facts. Now that we have established those two things, here's the story. He gave his keys to a kid at work who left a hat in his car so the kid could run out and grab his hat while they were working. The kid left early and forgot to give my buddy back the keys. My buddy then forgot he gave the kid the keys. Dumb move #1. ...

Why can't I adjust my steering column? I do not have an owners manual for my '90GT. The lever/lock for the column/instrument pod is a bit different than I remember on earlier cars. It appears to unlock by lowering and rotating right to left, toward the driver door. However, I cannot move the column up or down.

I have for sale an Autometer steering column dual gauge holder. This holder holds two 52mm gauges. I had it installed for about one year. The car is gone now so that is why I am selling this. I used double sided tape to hold it down so it does not have any holes in it. I'm asking $25 shipped. Here's a picture of it installed.
