My sister is coming up to sixty and has to decide on whether to defer her state pension. She can manage on the income from her current job, which is under no threat, and feels that she should defer it for another few years if it stacks up. Does anyone have any advice or thoughts, please? Thanks, Harry.

A pressure group recently went to the European Court regarding the rights of pensioners living overseas to get the annual pension increases paid in all countries. Some of the old commonwealth countries did not get the increases. Has the result of this case been published yet and, if so, what was it?

Was anyone due to have their UK state pension paid into their Spanish bank last Monday, 23rd November. If so have you got it yet. We are still waiting and on phoning the International Pension Centre we were told that there is a problem at the moment with payments into Spanish banks taking up to 7 days.

I'm currently on IB, the husband is on PC. ( sounds like the start of a maths exam question eh ). My IB will end on 23rd Dec, my 60th birthday. Then I go onto state pension on the first monday after, which is 28th. Ok, so this leaves me 5 days without money - is there any way of covering this ?

Please can someone advise me. I wrote to the State Pensions folks in Newcastle but am still awaiting a reply. Please excuse the cross-posting to disparate groups. What is the latest no. of years of NI contributions that are required to have been made by a man in order to receive a full State Pension at 65? I ask because in the 1960s/70s I was in full-time education, time which I ...

I will be 65 in March but intend to carry on working for one year. Including my state pension - if I take it - my income will be about £43,500 including my present salary and army pension......I estimate that I will stay within the basic tax rate.....would it be better to take my state pension and invest it for the year or should I defer it and gain the extra payment which I will receive ...

I am about to make some voluntary NI contributions in order to make sure I have 30 years paid by the time I retire and before I do that I would like to check that my calculations are sensible. I have made 12 years contributions through employment. I have no plan or intention of doing paid work again so can't expect more years to be paid by employment. I am due to receive a state ...

I work on the assumption that no matter how fit I may be, I may well get run over by a bus tomorrow, so I'll have it now while I can enjoy it. Well not now, but so long as I can avoid the bus for another 5 years.

I deal with a number of people in precisely your mother's situation who can't understand why they are eligible for two pensions and sometimes three or four. But be assured, as stated above, that your mother is entitled to both pensions. As to ensuring you are paying the right tax, this is important, it is because the state pension is ALWAYS paid without tax deduction, though it is taxable...

It has all been sorted. I told them it was my birthday and they said ok. Then we got a letter from the husband's Pension Credit people telling him he would get an extra £85 for one week, so that is the gap closed. I did think I was entitled to money for that one week so ty all for help.
