During an intercollegiate state legislature, we represent our university and run a mock government. We pass important bills that will be read in the real government senate. Is it considered as a meaningful leadership activity? How effective the EC is? Thanks.

This is the Connecticut State Legislature back in August. They voted on and approved a state budget that day, August 31. It doesn't look like a big deal to me. They had probably heard the guy say the same things 100 times before. It looks like they were working on their thinking and figuring skills.

Our legislature is liberal, and passed the gay marriage act. The governor signed it into law. Unfortunately, Maine has a referendum system that allows any cuckoos to put measures on the ballot -- all they have to do is collect enough signatures to do so. Sounds fine. For medicine, it's not that relevant, but sounds cool and somewhat unique. As a leadership experience... well, what do you think you'll learn there that you can bring to medicine? That should always be your question when evaluating an EC. It would answer a lot of these questions for you. IMO, it may be "leadership experience" but it probably shouldn't be your primary leadership ...
