Tajweed with standard Arabic? -

, I'm in the process of learning tajweed for the Qur'an, but I'm wondering how many of the same rules apply to standard (or classical) Arabic (ie, anything written which is not the Qur'an)? I know some rules like the assimilation of lam do apply, but what about other rules?
