An involved study shows’ squatting doesn’t have any effect on arms or indeed the body apart from legs. A bit technical and long but an Interesting read. http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/res...html#more-2 825 [Modified by: clive on 04 December 2009 05:31:57 ]

Hi, today I got a fair amount of pain in my lower back, the feeling that I have strained the muscles in that area, when squatting. What could be causing this? I think it is a form problem. Also I must mention that I was doing my squats in the Smith rack. BEFORE YOU TEAR MY HEAD OFF, I must mention that there is no alternative to this in my gym, no squat rack, of course there is an olympic ...

So iI was starting to improve my squatting pretty rapidly and I'm worried I got ahead of myself and am thinking about tweaking my routine. I've been doing: 2x 8reps 140 pounds 2x 6 reps 160 pounds 1 x 3 reps 180 1 x 1 rep 190 The reps at 140 are difficult but I can maintain my form. Once I get to 160 it gets harder. I have to wait several seconds usually between reps. I'm ...

I am new to squatting (it's been 2 years since I regularly squatted, 2 years ago I did not have this problem AT ALL (age 15) ). This is my 3rd time off the smith machine. Went as follows: 12x1 @ 95 warmup 10x1 @ 135 warmup 8x3 @ 185 (belt on) the first sent went ok but I didn't really feel it much so I didn't wait a long time and went at it again after about 30 seconds the second ...

I recently began training for oly lifting. I know I should be squatting deeper than parallel on my back squats, but just how far down should I go? For my front squats I have no problems going basically ass to ankles because it is less weight but with my back squat when I began going as far as possible which means basically until my hamstrings are against my calves, at this point I feel the ...

I'm on my strength building stage and squatting since couple of months.. went up from meagre 10 pounds to 55 pounds.. but guys, the prob is i already have big thighs and ass.. (fairly disproportionate to my upper body).. and worse, yesterday when i took measurement, damn.. they've further increased in size(both ass and thighs).. this was the last thing i wanted.. even though ppl here might ...

Several weeks/months ago I switched from a more or less bodybuilding stance squat (legs at shoulder width, bar high on the back) to a more powerlifting stance (legs wide, bar low on the back). I noticed that if I go very wide or should I say too wide the inside of my legs hurt near the crotch/groin. I think the muscles in that region are called the Gracilis and Adductor Longus. What ...

I ended up doing sort of this with both kids but I could never plan what position I wanted until I was there. I think it's best to just go with a place that has options and will let you do what feels right at the time.

Basically my workout buddy has health insurance but he's being a moron and doesn't want to go see a chiropactor or doctor to get it checked. Apparently it's been bugging him for about 3 weeks now. He says he feels some sort of pain/clicking on the outer portion of his hips when he does squats. Pain only shows up when he's down at the bottom range of motion with his quads parallel to ...

I just moved to Scotland, and admit was totally unaware that there were no squatters rights here, unlike the rest of the UK. I wanted to set up a squatted space to be used as a DIY art space / venue. Maybe eventually turning into some kind of secret cafe / radical library / safe space. Anyway does anyone know if squatting here is in anyway viable? or know of anyone that has experience squatting...

Quite recently when I squatted, I would feel pain in my inner thigh. This only hurts when I squat OR if I flex my entire leg doing nothing but standing or even sitting. It does not hurt when I walk and I can barely feel it when I run. Does this sound serious? I'm thinking about laying off the squats for about a week or 2 maybe.

LULLABY LIGHTS On 10th St., yellow rashes of cabs, curb saddled huck heat at squatting winos lured by nights balm, form dithering schools break the surface on Main & Broadway, merge into derelict tunnels, brim alley migration channels & wash up molars clacking at Royal Liquors chanting neon Their instinct to feed off bottoms they tug on Kool reburns cherry picked from ...

Well I'm sure we all know the rumor that if you squat in a residence for 3 years you can claim legal ownership of it. But it must be more complicated than that or everyone would be doing it. Does anyone know the actual legality of squatting, and how long and what criteria are to be met before you can say you own an abandoned property? ____________________ Biomedical Sciences BSc...

Hey guys!! New to the boards and I was hoping to share my squatting story and get some personal feed back and help! For a little background, I'm 21 yrs old. I've been lifting off and on for 3 yrs, nothing to serious. I started squatting because I realized I'm going to have chicken legs if I don't. I could only do 8 reps of about 75 lbs. That's pretty horrible right? I can bench 4 times ...
