Thought I would post this for FYI. I inspected a new condo the other day and found the unit was equipped with a sprinkler system. I then found one of the sprinkler heads on the outside of the unit. It was on the rear side of the structure under the upper units deck. I did some research and found that these exterior need parts of the system need to be winterized. Here is what I put in my ...

Tired of paying to have the sprinkler lines blown out every winter, but I also don't want to have to replace lines and sprinkler heads in the spring :-) I am wondering if I could buy one of those 150 psi "Husky" compressors from Home Depot and do it myself. Is that doable? And if so, where would I get the adapters to connect the compressor tube to the outside check-valve? Any ideas?...

QUESTION: My house is equipped with fire sprinklers which is tied to my alarm system. This morning I found a leaking sprinkler head. I turned off the main valve at the front yard lawn and that turned off the water to the house completely. I found three more valve switches by the house, one seems to shut off the lawn irrigation, another shuts off water to the house faucets, then the last one seems...

I think it will happen for the first time in 2011 for the IPC area. Can't decide if it's good or bad-but I guess the sprinkler malfunction, installation, or accident % involved is better than someone dying as a result of a fire. J.C.

My brother-in-law lives in Lawrenceville, so I'm quite aware that the drought there is over! Not knowing just how your system is designed, it's be bit hard to speculate on just where or what the problem is. Typically, there should be a master shutoff valve going from your water supply line to the back flow preventer. This valve should be off in the wintertime. If that valve does not shut off ...

An auto parts store will have a cheap air tank that can be refilled a a low cost. After you blow out the lines add some RV antifreeze available at an RV dealer put some of that in and blow it out again as there will be some low spots that you can't see.

I think it is a wise idea. We had an unusual cold snap here in Portland Oregon last year and everyone who hadn't winterized was calling us this spring needing repairs. COSTLY repairs. The average repair bill was around $250-$750. Winterization is cheap insurance. Here is a link that might be useful: Portland Sprinkler Repair

If compounding isnt working, then wetsanding may...
