FINALLY!!! I have wanted one of these babies for a long time now. I couldn't pass up the deal for this baby! Its a Springfield Armory rifle, and the serial dates it to March 1937. There is a 9-42 stamp on the barrel which I understand is a rebarrel date. There were 7 of these all lined up on the table, all for the same price. There was at least 1 A3 that I can remember with the different rear ...

I finally pulled out a 1903 Springfield that has been in my safe for the last four years. It's one I bought from a guy at work and had stored away without really inspecting too thoroughly. Researching the serial number (905,5xx) has indicated it was made in 1918 but it was rebarreled (3-44) and park'ed. I'm going to clean up the small hints of rust on it but wondering how I should ...

Why do you think The USA didn't develop a carbine version of this weapon? Granted it was shorter and lighter than the Infantry rifles of the time, But The USA had an active mounted cavalry at the time of development, and up until WWll, plus artillery units have been traditionally armed with carbines. I'd rather go hunting with Dick Cheney, than driving with Ted Kennedy

as far as american military c&r goes, i still need a bolt action. i know the best answer is going to be "buy both", which may end up happening. as a matter of fact i probably wont buy either one for some time yet. so between the two, 1917 or 1903, is there a standout choice? a must have? 50/50? also i dont know a whole bunch about either rifle, so this is kind of my way to decide which one i ...

I would not recommend buying bulk original Springfield clips. Those two-piece deals were not very good and they certainly haven't improved with age. http://www.championshooters.com/store/home.php?cat =322 You might also try the Champions Choice website for these types. They are worth the extra price.

lol yea it levels out, the little knob was loose, and it gets crooked. I guess for such an old design of a rifle, the rear sights were seemingly complicated, but they can be utilized with 5 different methods of use! And the windage adjustment knob is convenient. So I was pretty impressed with that. I really like the peep sight too.
