OK, so my 50 foot ethernet cable that I got on Amazon for 6 bucks came today. Unfortunately, it's about 15 feet shy of my Xbox. I have a 25 footer lying around that I want to splice with the 50 footer to reach my online gaming goodness with. They are both Belkin cables. I found this guide , and it looks like something I can do. However, I noticed one thing that's confusing me. One of the ...

OMG, so frustrating. I needed to extend the length of the cable running from my 270 wheel to the pedals. I'm splicing it with CAT 5e. Getting those little ---smurfs--- to stay in place while I get the solder on them is SOOOOO difficult. Then when I see that the tip of my heat shrink tubing has sealed closed from the heat of the soldering iron so I need to open the connection back up...

Grrr . . . something's not working right after all. The wheel (a Logitech Momo Force) works fine with the power unplugged ( no force feedback, of course), but goes nuts like every button on it is being pressed simultaneously with the power plugged in. I toned everything out, and I know there are no shorts, but I'm afraid that with 24v of electricity running down the wires I'm now ...

Or just use some of your taper you made when making the splice. I also like the #4 but scraps are awesome and also save you some money. I like the Yale whip lock better than the others Careful its a PDF. http://www.yalecordage.com/html/pdf/yale_whiplock. pdf -------------------- Go big or go home.

pdqdl, Im am familiar with the inherent weakness created by knots and you may be spot on with the "squeezes itself in two" theory. I have had some clean breaks or a lack of a tearing failure when Ive tried or tied a few different knots in it. No knots no more for this rope. Only splicing. Even on a straight line with a double I think may be the term. One line goes inside the other, for about 8" ...

When I worked in the local paper mill part of my job(20 years) was splicing the ropes on the 2 paper machines . We switched from 3 strand nylon rope to braided many years ago ...braided was so much faster and made a flatter splice...not as bulky as the 3 strand . We must have made thousands of splices . We were allowed to take the used rope home .When I made a eye splice for an emergency ...

So after replacing my power antenna (5 minute job) I decided to get rid of an aftermarket alarm that was not working in the Bird. Well the previous owner did a home job so I spent some time fixing his wiring mistakes, one of which was where he wired into the headlights off the switch. He cut them, not just splicing almost near the connector so I had to add some length. Well after I got it all...
