Hey guys. I have a 1997 bmw 540iA, 125,000 miles. The other day I was driving home, and step on the gas to accelerate. To my surprise, the engine just rev's and the "transmission failsafe program" comes up on the OBD. I am able to coast across the intersection, shut down, and re-start the car. Now nothing, the transmission just slams itself into gear (4th I think?), the engine just revs, ...

So while driving the caddi today out of nowhere the speedometer dropped to 0 then back up to 40. The car then slowed to about 10mph and wont pickup any speed. I can hear the motor RPMs increasing but it wont shift to pick up speed. It seems as if the tranny is stuck in 1st gear. When I come to a stop I will step on the gas and everything seems normal till it reaches around 15mph. It still has ...

Instalation help front ABS speed sensor!!! I need to install a front ABS speed sensor. Its snowing where I'm at and I don't have a garage to do it in so I'm doing it on the driveway. I need to know the quickest way to change a senor. If someone has step by step instructions, and or pictures of how to do it that would be nice.

There was a thread about a year and a half ago regarding the speedometer input for '86+ clusters/computers. There was never a final solution as to how to make it work using a pre '86 differential. I'm switching from an M47 to a T5. Currently I have the speed sensor mounted on the shift support: reading the pulses from the 3 bolts on the flex joint (3 passes per rev X 4.10 rear = (about) 12 ...

My parents' '05 T&C Limited has had the ABS light on the dash for a while now. The car doesn't get driven much at all so they haven't worried about it, but we want to get it fixed before snow starts falling. My dad brought it to a guy he knows with some sort of computer, but couldn't get a code out of the car. He was able to hook up to the car though and could view the readings from each speed ...

Speed/ reference sensor gapping I am trying to get my car starting, but I am having some doubts. I know that the Speed sensor (rear sensor closest to firewall) has to be a .8mm gap. I beleive that I have that. The reference sensor doesnt have a spec, correct? I had a stripped mounting bolt,so I had to play surgery on my car in...

Im having problems with the RR wheel speed sensor not reading the correct speed. I just replaced it because the old one had a reading of about 16MegaOhms. The ABS light is still on. Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the wheel speed sensor circuit from the EBCM to the sensor so I can do a OHM reading from the connector clear back to verify that the wiring is good? 1999 GA 2.4L...
