Okay sorry I just want to vent a little bit. I was pulling into a client's office building, and the entrance is off of a hill, and has a deep decline right as you turn in. And the idiots put in a ****ing speed bump on the decline, so of course you can't see it, and as I was coming in, my car souded like it bounced on it. OUCH!!! The sound is still ringing in my ears. But I checked it ...

IT DOES NOT HELP ANYTHING. It just makes it effectively 4 bumps instead of 2. And it drives me nuts. Sure, if you're driving through a deep gutter, approaching diagonally can reduce the approach angle and make your bumper less likely to scrape. But speed bumps are not gutters. They are bumps. There is no "approach" there's the bump. If your bumper clears, your bumper clears. If it doesn't...

It's so steep you wouldn't want to be comming down too fast and there are always cars parked on one side so going up you have to be careful of oncoming traffic. Think the council could use this money improving the road surface on other roads that seriously need a refurbishment. What's next? Speed...

I got mine from Smart Car Universe and I've been very happy with it. The receiver comes out through the bottom plastic panel, giving me a little more clearance for speed bumps than I'd have gotten if I'd gone with a U-Haul hitch and a rack.

Paul J: Has your local council responded to criticism of road surfaces by claiming budgetary cuts are to blame, whilst at the same time finding unlimited funds to construct more speed bumps and rumble strips on the approach to corners? Funny, but of course they don't really have "unlimited" funds. Their budget has already been allotted to many different things (speed bumps, road ...
