At my current club we don't realy do any sparring. And the sparring that we rarely do is very controlled, where we perform moves against an opponent who is actively fighting back with pushing, punching, knees etc. But as for actual "free sparring", we don't realy do any. I remember doing Sparring at my old TKD club and I did find it beneficial to learn to defend and attack against an ...

This is for boxing sparring. Im about 150-155 so Im pretty small but Im also pretty fit and lean. I can spar with someone my own size no problem but when Im up against someone bigger than me by about 30-40 pounds I have some trouble. I try to stay light on my feet and circle around which works pretty well but I end up getting pretty tired doing this. Ive also tried staying in ...

Anybody notice that Pacquiao was moving forward and getting caught with punches during the sparring session? I wonder if camp Pacquiao purposefully showed this to try and throw off Cotto's camp or if he really thinks he has the firepower to backup Cotto. I think Cotto will win by KO but the only chance Pacquiao has is of jumping in with his punches and quickly jumpingout, he doesn't have a ...

Stag Derby Sparring Prep Just wondering, when you boys spar your stags that are in training for an up coming show, do you spar against other stags, or older cocks. If you use older cocks to spar against your stags, what advantage do you think it gives, or whats your reasons for doing so, likewise if you spar against other stags. Let me ...

more sparring protection When I spar I use the standard 14 oz boxing gloves, shin pads and head gear. I was thinking of adding elbow pads, knee pads, chest protector, and thigh and hip protection compression shorts for added protection. do you think this would be overkill? I'm not too concerned about looking like a dork but I ...

Yes, I enjoyed playing as Magneto _to a degree_ in sparring mode in this one. He's definitely at his weakest of the entire series in this game, but then again he wasn't supposed to be playable to begin with so I can forgive him. =p He's pretty simple in this. Two blasts. One powerful, one not so powerful. Just spam the super powerful one when you've got a good shot while hiding behind allies. I ...

Saw the sale on their website. Seems like a pretty sweet deal, I've heard nothing but good things about the Top Ten headguard. Anyone have any experience with their gloves? Totiro-USA Martial Arts Head Guards, Gloves, Kicks, Gear & Accessories

This could be a little difficult for me to explain correctly, but I will do my best. In our dojo, while participating in an activity that I will attempt to describe as "free-form exploration of the various movement principles of taijutsu"' (not really sparring as such) I have noticed most students usually tend to leave the "idle" or "inactive" hand either around the elbow or collarbone ...

Got back from DS's first karate tournament. He did very well considering how nervous he was. He won first place for his numchuck demonstration. Second place for his kata or form - he did a red belt exercise. He fought his way to the final in sparring, then they decided to change the rules and start over again. The second time through he came in third. He should have had a ...
