I'm borrowing this post from another movie. This movie seems a little more difficult to spoil though... As far back as I can remember, I've always wanted to be an Accountant

A Beautiful looking, yet somewhat dull film, 7/10. Perhaps with more re-watches I'll enjoy it more, but for now, a 7/10 is about right. It's certainly not as "boring" as some make it out to be, but it does tend to drag, although it picks up more towards the ending. It's a beautiful looking film though. Formally known as Coilector

So which one is the original, first release? Is one by chance a Kiwi (New Zealand) poster? 1) 2) Sorry I could not find a larger picture. The main differences I see are: A) the 'red rocket', B) the blue coloured printer info vs. red coloured printer info on #1 and C) the extended blue border on #1 vs #2 . The consensus on this third one is a later 70s release...

Not sure what triggered my reviewing of this yesterday, but after the umpteenth viewing and 40+ years, it's astounding how this movie holds up....for reasons not the least of which is its intentional avoidance of gimmicks, be they plot, effects, dialogue or scientific. I'm certain it's actually a help that I've seen it before, because I do recall my utter bewilderment when first seen on ...

2001: A Space Odyssey was an awesome futuristic film and it didn't include any cheesy CGI of fluorescent blue people running around with guns. Sorry, but this isn't the future of cinema. Mr. Kubrick must be thoroughly please with his vision of the future.

I agree Ari. It is a shame that for such an iconic film, the Aussie paper is fairly bland. Those re-release posters are atrocious (one sheet and daybill). I can understand the earlier litho daybills being blue but for the later re-release - space is BLACK!

Hollywood Zietgiest, I mean 2001 was way cool different, not nearly a hooky, and no where near as fun, but yeah monkeys and spaceships would technically make these films alike. However 2001 version of masterpiece is just so night and day different than Planet of the Apes.
