OSS is the Open Sound System and only provides sound drivers, so that's not any help. It would be tricky to get OpenSolaris installed on your system if your hard drives are connected to the Silicon Image controller. I have Solaris Express Developers Edition installed. Currently, it uses OpenSolaris repositories for all the goodies. Solaris is great.

The catch is that not every driver that might be needed will be on the CD; there's not much space, and when the distro is trying to be redistributable, that may also prevent certain closed drivers from being included. Maybe you could ask LSI if their driver is redistributable; if it is, either some existing distro might be interested in adding it, or you could create your own ...
