The number of spotless days in the current Solar Cycle places the length of this minimum 7th out of 24 Solar Cycles . There were 268 spotless days in 2008. As of the above post, 226 in 2009. This chart is taken from the Wattsupwiththat link.

There is some disagreement and discussion as to how solar cycle 24 will unfold. This review paper by Karen Harvey summarizes how normal solar cycles unfold and the normal patterns and normal pattern variation that has been found by observing past solar cycles. Most of the solar cycle predictions used historic pattern observations to try to predict how large cycle 24 would be. Obviously ...

Two astronomers predict sunspots will soon disappear completely Are sunspots disappearing for good? Two solar researchers say this is the case. Amateur Radio Newsline's Norm Seeley, KI7UP, has more: Most hams users know that there is a direct correlation between sunspots and high frequency propagation conditions. In general, the more ...

An international panel of experts has declared that Solar Cycle 24 began in December 2008 and predict it will peak in 2013, but will be weaker than any cycle since 1928. The extensive solar minimum we are currently experiencing, with   almost six months without any sunspots, is expected to end shortly. By next quarter sunspot numbers are expected to begin climbing. But the predicted ...
