Hi, my first post to this group. I've used CW forever and had CW9, MC3 and 5. I've recently switched to Sonar, Producer 8. I'm running a Win7, 64bit laptop. I manipulate a lot of midi files for my projects and I'm trying to use softsynths to get different sounds at this point from a generic downloaded midi file. When I use the standard Microsoft GS Wavetable synths, I ...

This is for the gigging musicians out there. I currently drag three keyboards to every gig. In my home studio, though, these boards stay in their gig bags all week because I use softsynths with my (aging) Windows XP desktop. The soft synths just sound better. I need to upgrade my studio PC. I am thinking about getting a laptop (haven't ruled out a Mac) and using soft synths on stage....

I'm just testing some things out with Sonar to get an understanding of how to use them when I actually need them for a project. I have tried using the softsynths that came packaged with Sonar, and some others that I have installed Myself. I have all of the audio options in the tracks themselves set the same regardless of where the synth came from; yet only the ones that ...

Hi- I'm going through a midi file that I want to use for tracks with my band. I can get SI Drum Kit to work, I can get Cakewalk TTS-1 to work. I cannot get any of the other softynths to output sound. They come up, I can see the interfaces, they appear to be playing along (piano keyboard is showing activity), but no sound comes out. If I'm getting sound on those others, doesn't ...

I'm a poor college student with a lot of free time and few friends. Recently, I've been interested in getting some sort of softsynth or full blown music suite to play around with and use to learn more about composition. There seem to be a lot of options, but most of them seem incredibly expensive and geared towards professionals. For $200 or less (preferably $150 or less), I'm wondering ...

Hello, Using Cakewalk Music Creator 5, I deleted a MIDI clip I had in my drum track and tried pasting in another MIDI clip by pressing ctrl+V. Nothing happened. However, when I went to add a track, all of my soft synths- from studio instruments and cakewalk sound center to synths I had downloaded off the internet- were greyd out and unable to be selected. I tried opening another song and ...

I found the July 2008 threads about this subject, great stuff! Seemed that the only way to be set up for mono recording was a template. 1. Has anything changed with that? It is 1&1/2 years later. 2. I use mostly softsynths (except for all guitars and all vocals) I am a bit confused about the softsynths and FX with regard to mono recording. Any help is appreciated ...

This isn't my usual fare, for those of you that are thinking 'More guitar?' This is an experimental vocals piece I made using cubase and a microphone, it contains no instruments whatsoever, in any part. No softsynths, no samples, nothing except recordings of my own voice, chopped, changed, filtered, and generally warped as an experiment. Harmonically, not complex either, so dont expect ...

bitflipper There is still no option to make new tracks default to a mono interleave. You can, however, still define a mono track template. There are additional benefits to using track templates, such as also being able to specify routing and effects. I used to grumble about the stereo default, but not since I got into the habit of using templates. ...

it can take a while with more and more FX and softsynths to process. I've not had one take 8+ minutes, but mine often take more than 2 or 3 minutes to process.

joenj07087 thanks Fret, I did what you sugested and requested the serial number through e-mail from Linn plug, and yes the Albino 3 is right now my bread and butter Synth, I can't do without it for several projects I'm working on, is a fantastic synth(specially for dance industrial, EBM, Trance), and that is why this became a major inconvenience for me over this week-end, not ...

Hi All, I am new to this forum, but not new to audio recording and Cakewalk products. Just as background, before purchasing Sonar 8.5 I was using Cakewalk Pro-Audio 9. So I am somewhat familiar with the software, settings etc. I have been doing some reading on this forum, and I see that there is some issue with Sonar and Presonus, however, I have also read on here...

Thanks for replying to my msg. Things are going a lot better now that I have set up SONAR template files for several Softsynths. ASIO4all and SONAR made it easy, actually. There was a one-time configuration for the first one. But after that I could just swap out Softsynths and play to my heart's content. I even did some sequencing while playing the the Garritan Steinway and ...
