Greetings: We currently have a server at The Planet that we use for monitoring and a small amount of hosting. How many of you have moved from The Planet to SoftLayer? Are you still at SoftLayer? How long have you been at SoftLayer? What has been the experience with SoftLayer? Customer Service? Support? Any hardware or network problems? If you had a magic wand, ...

Hi. Just a quick review for me, thought I'd quickly summarize my experience with these companies. I've used them for both my business websites and a MMO project I was involved in, so i'll split this twice: Game server - Softlayer We enjoyed our time at the Softlayer network for the game server however the community we were involved in was full of DDoS attacks, so we ...

I signed up for a new account on November 20th (don't worry mods I'll send you one of my IPs ) and just wanted to post a quick note on my experience thus far. Prior to moving over to SoftLayer, I primarily had service with ThePlanet for just over a year. While their network was stellar, their Support & Accounting Departments, and their "Orbit" control panel were nothing to sneeze at. The...

Few weeks back, Softlayer had downtime for CloudLayer instances for two days. I am wondering if anyone else is facing the trouble again ? I have just now noticed that the Cloud is down and we aren't able to connect for past 15 minutes. I hope they won't start doing it as a monthly thing.

Has anyone had the pleasure of testing out softlayer's cloud computing? How has your experience been with it? Did you see any cost/performance margin difference compared to a dedicated server? Any kind of downtime experience? Hardware failure causing downtime? I've seen other cloud hosting unable to prevent downtime, how is softlayer's platform helping the cause?

Hi, one thing I hate with Amazon EC2: not knowing when you will incorporate new Windows version AMI. For example: SoftLayer.com can tell me that Windows Server R2 is coming in Q1 of 2010. AWS never told when the Windows 2008 AMI would be available, or why there was such an 18 month delays. Will there be an 18 month delay before the R2 release? Could you change your...

Hello fellow WHT members, I would like to write about my experiences with Dynaceron; a newer hosting company, but a great one nonetheless. Pre-Dynaceron Era: I started out with Softlayer. They were great (definitely no complaints about hardware, support, etc.), but the prices were steep. I really wanted to find a company that offered a server that would better fit my budget. I ...
