I am looking at buying an inexpensive heatsink. My processor is hovering around 50 degrees Celsius without any overclocking and I want to bring the temperature down. Will this $12 Socket 939 heatsink fit on a Socket AM2 Motherboard? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835106 122

You can always buy the motherboard and then call the motherboard manufacturer's support dept and get a new BIOS chip with the current BIOS flash mailed to you at the same time.....try the Mobo "as-is" if it will not post then put the new BIOS chip in and throw the old one away.....cheaper than buying an AM2+ CPU just to use just to flash the BIOS to the current version.

But to support a Athlon II X2+ you need a new mobo since yours is just too old.
