I'm wondering if anyone can answer this question for me: can I fill out the online application for employment without using my social security number? what are my alternatives? I've sent e-mails to best buy about this question but still haven't gotten any replies. It's been over a week and so I'm giving this a try. Thanks.

( I know that the Organizers can truncate social security number but please ADD the Same feature to Truncate the social security numbers on the tax returns. Live in MA and we have a MA data security law to encrypt information! To bypass emailing returns with SS#'s via email, we can email it without encryption IF the returns truncate \(i.e. remove\) the SS#'s, similar to how the ...

Hello All, My wife will be attending for H4 stamping. I am sending scanned copies of my W2. 1040 forms which has the social security number on it. Is it ok if I mask them when I scan them. Will the visa officer have any problems with that during H4 stamping ? Thanks.

( Truncating SS# is NOT a sufficient security mechanism. My financial institutions now send email with a pdf file password protected with - the last 4 digits of my SS#. The last thing I want is that number going out unencrypted. , class="postsignature inline_edm"> NanseaLevy - If we knew what it was we're doing, it would not be called Research. - Albert Einstein, class="...

Job applications always as for your ssn# to prove that you are a legal citizen and have the right to work in the US. Are you not wanting to use it because of fear of ID theft? I'm pretty sure all of your personal info is secure here, otherwise they would not ask for it out of fear of law suits.

One thing to take it further, I remember that the first 3 digits (prefix) of a SSN represents the state/geographical area of where the SSN was issued. Therefore, you can incorporate valid prefix ranges into your regex if you wanted. http://www.mrfa.org/ssn.htm Also, Wikipedia states the following about the first 3 digits: "Currently, a valid SSN cannot have an area number between...

( As I stated previously, many financial institutions DO send out pdf copies of statements \(i.e. monthly, quarterly, YE\) unencrypted, which is unfortunate, as I've dealt with those institutions. Until the account holders tell them otherwise, those pdf files will be unencrypted. But that's besides the point... Let's not start rambling onwards... Truncating SS# may not be ...
