As a human race (and for you as an individual) what do we value most - someone who is a great talker - 'story teller' and speaker - or someone who is a great listener? Thought provoking responses that also incorporate at least one great reference/source and perhaps an image are most likely to be best answer candidates!

So all the engineers and CS people trot off to their Google / Microsoft / Cisco etc internships or do research; Economics and Haas people can do the same with i-banks or accountancy firms, etc. The opportunities seem to be more limited to those doing things like Political Economy or History, especially paid ones. Even in research these departments have seemingly much less need of assistants ...

Wow, quite a few sources. I'd suggest that if you highlighted the two or three that you considered the most specific to your arguments (in your reply) that it would help strengthen your answer even more. Overall, thanks for a well organized response :)

Why don't we have a petition for the world to change to Imperial? That makes almost as much sense. The reality is that many, if not most, industries having been metric based for decades. I worked in the glass container and plastic cap industries in the 70s and all the molds were metric.

Hybridization of the human race throu cybernetics would be interesting. Kind of like a Ghost in the Machine kind of thing. People get so scared of this, as if the Machines will take over, but what happens if we just have our own developed evolution that does not force one into extinction by execution, but just because people WANT to be able to have a HUD GPS in their head, or live to 250...
