Smithtown Universitys fund-raisers succeeded in getting donations from 80 percent of the potential donors they contacted. This success rate, exceptionally high for university fund-raisers, does not indicate that they were doing a good job. On the contrary, since the people most likely to donate are those who have donated in the past, good fundraisers constantly try less-likely prospects in an ...

I am toying with the idea of moving to either the Smithtown or Hauppauge school districts (any towns in these districts will do). Other than the tax advantages of Hauppauge schools, which I am well aware of, what are the plusses or minuses of each of the districts? And, what towns/neighborhoods are recommended? I would be looking to live in a development, in a colonial, splanch, or split-...

Smithtown is once again in complete control of the Republicans. I just returned from the Smithtown GOP headquarters and Vecchio retained his seat convincingly against Pat Biancanello. Biancanello said the other day that people should start calling her Madam Supervisor-Elect. She'll now be known as Madam Former-Councilwoman! In a huge upset, Glen Jorgensen destroyed incumbent Dan Ryan by 20...

Being that election day is coming on Tuesday, I am going to share my predictions for the races in the Town of Smithtown, and the Suffolk County Legislature. This year is exciting. On the ...

I was wondering if I could get some opinions on living in the surrounding neighborhoods if one were to be interested in moving out there, I know Nassau but not much once you pass Smithtown. I suppose Hauppauge/Smithtown/Nesconset is nice, but someone I know would be renting an apt out there. Any ideas?
