If the gun season is over in your area, now might be a good time to check your local gun shops for left over slugs @ cheaper prices. I stopped by my local shop today and all the shotgun slugs were 20-25% off (dependent upon brand). I picked up a few boxes of fiocchi slugs for 6.95 per box of 10. They normally sold for $8.95 per box of 10. It never hurts to save a few dollars. Jim

Rifle sights vs Ghost Ring sights for slugs for an 870. I have a 12 guage 870 express with a 20 inch smooth bore barrel with rifle sights, but I have been thinking abour replacing the rifle sights with a Ghost ring set up. My primary concern is shooting foster/brenneke slugs as accurately as possible. I dont want a rifled ...

sabot slugs Maybe someone can answer this. I know "they" say not to use sabot slugs in a smoothbore, but has anyone tried it? The M-1 Abrams uses a 120mm smooth bore and sabot rounds to destroy other tanks at ranges of 5 miles or more. Why can't I shoot sabots out of my smoothbore shotgun barrel(cyl bore)?

I've got a Remington 870 with a smooth bore and was going to shoot rifled slugs out of it. What type of insert should I have in the end to protect the threads for my chokes or is it ok to shoot just the way it is? The end of the barrel seems a little thin without any choke or other type of insert in it. I'm more of a bowhunter and don't know a whole lot about firearms. Thanks.

I can not imagine two slugs going at it. They're always just on their own, slithering their way to nowhere, yet there's always baby slugs around. Do slugs actually fuck? Do they not like to do it in public?

I am in law enforcement and planning on getting one of his barrels for my 870. The smaller 00buck spread is perfect when you are accountable for every round that comes out of your gun, but I have heard that his barrels don't do well with slugs. I use standard 1oz rifled slugs, and their max effective range out of an 18.5 inch barrel is about 100 yards give or take. My question is, will I be ...

'Rifled' deer slugs--compared to saboted? Talked to an uncle that invited me hunting if I can make it up north, again. Problem: he's in Illinois, and I don't own a shotgun. Disappointment or opportunity? I feel comfortable in my ability to hit a deer right. But the shotgun I've taken a shining to looks like it will be ...

I've got mostly wheel weights and plumbers lead but can't seem to locate tin. What would be a good source for tin. Bar solder really went up in price so I'm hunting for a cheaper source. Any help would sure be appreciated.

Being new to shotguns and shooting I have had a few questions and this site has been just great. I recently bought my first shotgun, Silver Pigeon II and have enjoyed shooting with my son at a local sporting clay facility. I have never hunted before but am interested in both bird and deer hunting as my property provides opportunity for plenty of both. My question is, is it possible to shoot ...

Can you shoot these out of a rifled barrel? We have a bit of an argument in our hunting gang and figured this was the place for the answer. How bad would the lead fouling really be after say 5 -10 shots? Any other thoughts would help aswell. Thanks Reagan

I am very interested in the Paseos en Bicicleta evening tour. Has anyone taken it? I am concerned about the level of fitness required to climb San Cristobal. We are certainly not slugs and have done a fair amount of biking but would be reassured to hear of someones experience. Can anyone comment on this. Edited: 9:02 am, today
