Hi All I've been recommended to this website due to your thorough knowledge and helpfulness, so I'm hoping you can share some advice on the following. I've recently moved to a house around 20 miles out of the city and although its no where remote, it doesnt have cable access. In my old property I had 20 meg connections with Virgin Media. I recently purchased the sky "upto" *...

Okay, so, I'm a gamer, PC and xbox360. I've been trying to change the NAT firewall settings on the router, and after a conversation with a member of their Tech Support who didn't even know what NAT was, I've lost hope in them. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how, exactly, I open the NAT settings on a Sky Router, I can get into it's settings page just fine, but I can't figure out much...

Anyway, it got enabled yesterday and using the Netgear web interface on my router, was told I was connected by not authenticated. I called Sky to find out my new username/password and was told i HAD to use the router...

In reply to a post by Anonymous: There are microfilters in the appropriate places and I think its just my location and possible rubbish line quality effecting it, which is out of my hands. Generally then theres nothing I can do (unless I move!) Thanks for your help anyway guys, appreciate it The only way to find out what your line is truly able to sync at is to remove ...

Hi Louisa, Have you thought about trying mobile broadband? I bought a dongle last summer to use when on holiday but used it at home first to test it out. Wow - it was amazing! It was much faster than my home broadband. You can get mobile broadband on pay as you go so you could just try it out without being tied into a contract.

Hm, interesting comments. I have sky mid at home and get a solid 10mb with zero dropouts, wifi is 80%+ across my house and garden. At work I have BT business 20mb and whilst I can't comment on the connection as it just went in today and the exchange is down, the previous 8mb service was superb, ok a bit slow but that is due to distance from exchange. Have delt ...

If you recently upgraded or joined sky BB, there is a cap on your line (more than likely) You will have to ring up, and ask them to remove this cap. I am not sure if this cap will get removed automatically though.

I haven't heard of a price increase? My usage doesn't appear to be throttled at home. How would I know anyway? OK monthly usage is being dropped from 40Mb to 10Mb, but according to what I know for £10 it goes back to 40Mb
