hey girlies, hope u are all well! my sil has told my oh that if I have semi skimmed milk I have to boil it first, she said the midwife will tell me this and also showed me it in this nhs book she has! I have never read this before and am confused as to why skimmed and full fat is ok but not semi skimmed? I thought as long as it's pasteurised it's ok?? help I'm confused!!! thanks :-)

I always wonder this. What did traditional people do with skimmed milk once they made their butter/cream etc? Milk baths? Soap? I can't imagine it would just get chucked out.

Ok so basically I realised that in minimizing my milk intake I just wasnt getting enough calcium, so Ive upped my SS milk intake by about 3/4 of a cup. Thus increasing my calories by 100 or so per day. Concurrent to this change in my diet, I seem to have put on 7 lbs or so going from 126lbs to 133lbs. Now, to get a fuller picture I have had 2 weekend vacations where I pretty much ate whatever ...

I'm making rice pudding this afternoon, and only have semi-skimmed milk in. I thought about giving our blw ds who is 7 months old a taste... I know generally speaking they shouldn't have reduced fat milk until over 12 months, just wondered if the consensus was that it would be ok to try or best to avoid? He can always have fruit instead!
