6 Servings Traditional Shepherd's Pie is usually made with ground meat and white potatoes. I like this one because it has sweet potatoes mixed in and omits the meat filling. The curried lentil filling is sandwiched between two layers of creamy potato filling sitting on a crouton crust baked on top of sweet zucchini. I serve this as an entree with a simple chopped tomato salad. ...

Instead of using a pastry crust, this recipe creates a savory crust with mashed potatoes. The bacon flavor in the filling is fabulous! I think you and your family will love this pleasing pie.Chris Eschweiler, Dallas, Texas View this recipe now

For a stick-to-your-ribs main dish that's deliciously different, give this pie a try! The Italian sausage goes so well with mashed potatoes, and both get a new twist served in a crust and cut into wedges. My family is always glad to see me preparing this dish. -Cindy Gage, Blair, Nebraska View this recipe now

I have always just browned my hamburger, put it in the casserole dish, add a can of veg-all on top, spread the mashed potatoes over it, cover with american cheese slices, and bake until the cheese is good and melted. That is the way my mother always made it. I just read all your coments and the original recipe. I am cooking it with the gravy, corn, and thyme right now. It sounds good. HOUSTON, TX

I haven't posted about our senior rescued Pekingese that we rescued last year for a long time so here is a quick update. He's been with us a year now and doing very well. His coat condition is great now (we had to have him shaved after adoption because he was a solid mat and covered in fleas and sores). He's bright, happy, and healthy now. We call the first his birthday so he celebrated his...

I've got a soft spot for spoonerisms, where the punch line of a joke is a play on words or several syllables have been switched around. As examples: # "The Lord is a shoving leopard" ("loving shepherd") # "It is kisstomary to cuss the bride" ("customary to kiss") # "Mardon me, padam, this pie is occupewed. Can I sew you to another sheet?" (Pardon me, madam, this pew is occupied. Can I show you...

A ready meal is a thankfully rare event for me, but I had a passable Shepherd's Pie at work today, and I noticed that the cooking instructions specified "cook from frozen". I believe this to be commonplace with many frozen products. I have a distant memory of A level Physics reminding me that the latent heat of water (i.e. the energy required to turn ice at 0 degrees Celsius to water at 0 ...

Back in mid-July, good friends of ours invited a cast of characters to their home on a roasting hot day to sample our host's world-renowned smoked barbecue and all the fixins. This was our third annual event, and it has become a highlight of every summer. There were tons of wines on hand, including 2 Sparklers, 10 Whites, 11 Reds and ½ a Port. Two Sparkling Wines: N.V.
