I'd like to do my capture sharpening in ACR in Bridge then do output in PS4, but the Bridge sharpening Amount range is 1-150, while PS has an Amount range of 1-500; and an even more dramatic difference in "pixel" settings (ACR has .5 - 3.0 while PS has 1-64). I've read that the ACR sharpening is basically USM (unsharp mask), so is there any way to correlate these numbers? For instance, if I ...

I'm thinking about getting a BM Skirmish, but I usually stay away from recurved edge's since they are more difficult maintain. I've had some luck sharpening my Kukri's by folding sandpaper around a cylinder (like a pringles can or dowel) ....But I'm just wondering what methods other people use for their inwardly curved blades?

Hi I'm wondering how to sharpen recurves. A specific example is the ZT 200 by kershaw which has Ken Onion's style of recurve. How would you go about sharpening this?I know stones can't so would you use a rod?(yes i suck a sharpening)

I found a great buy on a roughly 12"x21" hard rubber (or rubber-like plastic) tray at the local "Dollar Store" for one dollar each that is great for containing the mess when sharpening with water stones. Unlike my previous cookie-sheet sized plastic tray, it has plenty of room for several stones, spray bottle, jig, blades, etc. A no-slip tool-tray liner, router pad, or kitchen shelf liner in ...

Well I got my grinder setup and built a sharpening jig for it. I used MDF scraps I had just to see if it will work. Plan on redoing it with some 3/4 ply for stability soon. Also need to work on the end piece to work with sharpening the skew. I have to say, if there is any new turners reading this, do yourself a HUGE favor and pick up a grinder, mine is a ryobi from the orange store, not a...

Correct me if I'm wrong, I have read that lens are at the sharpest at certain aperture such as f/8 and et cetera. My questions are: Assuming that I am limited to the only lens I am currently using, does it mean pictures taken at other apertures are 'not' that usable? Is is better to get the picture as sharp as it possible when taking it or is it better to sharpen it after taking the photos...

soo, I checked as many threads as I could and maybe need some more help with this. So I have this knife, thick blade, convex. Was never very sharp from the get-go and I tried all of the tricks and followed all of the videos. Been through 800 - 2000 grit on mousepad, open cell foam, minicell foam, cardboard, leather. Used the sharpie as well. Tried all different angles and pressures. I ...

Had a problem getting my ZT0300 sharp on sticks and sent it to Richard, he provided fast, expert service at a very reasonable price. My knife came back very sharp, with nice even grinds and he was extremely careful with it. Knife had not one scratch anyplace from his work. Thanks Richard!

This is a spin off of the plane shavings discussion... there the discussion evolved in to one about hand plane shavings getting caught up in the dust collector impeller or the impeller screens after sailing through the cyclone. My impellers have a "grinder sharp" edge on them (i.e., rough with burrs) that seem to snag the plane shavings and clog up the impeller. I'm now speculating ...
