These strips were designed almost a century ago. Several advances to tires have been made since. In the movies they use explosives on the tires to cause dramatic blowouts. The myth is, if you go slowly with a set of high quality belted tires no major damage will occur.

For body shop estimates I goto a Porsche/Mercedes type of bodyshop as advertised in a PCA catalog. A+ quality and no hacks for the $$$$ involved. Most times I request NO BONDO or filler! $1250 sounds like a pinch and pull with maybe a respray and bondo. Like others I am worried about the body mounts as that's more structural and the LC drivetrain is HEAVY to be supported by sheetmetal. ...

A cut and paste from http://newcarbuyingguide.com/index.p...560/event=v iew Store tires in an area that is clean, cool, dry, dark and well ventilated with circulating air. It is better to store tires in a dry basement than outdoors or in a hot garage or attic. Basement temperatures tend to remain cooler and more stable, while outdoors, garages and attics can become hot and experience ...

I'm sorry, but you strike me as having an unrealistic relationship w/your Metro. I have a hard time believing you were "able to replace the timing belt, the valve cover gasket and change the oil and spark plugs in about 30 minutes total". IMO most of us would take 30 minutes just to get the timing belt cover off. When you say "i'm in love with it and dedicated to keeping it on the road until ...
