Trying to replace serpentine belt on 96 taurus duratec. instructions say to move tensioner pulley counterclockwise but that just loosens the tensioner pulley when the tensioner pulley tool is attached to the square bolt head. When I pulled the tensioner pulley forward (clockwise) I was able to get the old belt off; however, I have been unable to put the new belt on. Appears the tensioner ...

Hi, everybody, I have aquired most of a 1987 Corvette serpentine belt system, which I intend to install on my 1980 Corvette. I say most, because the guy I got it from had the engine in a 1948 International Harvester rat rod, and had to "modify" It to make it fit in the engine compartment. However, I have everything exept the top mounting bracket...

When I first bought my 1997 Boxster, I trailered it home and took it for a ride to my kids school. One of the serpentine belt pulleys locked up and it threw the belt off. I loaded it back on the trailer and brought it home. I took off the pulley and replaced the bearing as I am cheap. Now that my engine is out of the car I replaced the other 2 and snapped some pictures. The bearings cost me...

What is the correct serpentine belt length for a 2000 4.0 w/AC in a LHD chassis? Autozone gave me a 95" belt, and I simply could not get it back on. Looking on rockauto.com, I'm seeing belt lengths of 95", 95.125" and 95.625" (95 and 5/8). It's also possible that the cheapo belt from Autozone is not even the 95" that it's marked. I took their house brand against my better judgment because...

Hi, I have installed aftermarket pulleys instead of worn originals and original plastic covers do not hold securely. So I decided do not install those covers to avoid some freaking accidents with serpentine belt. Did somebody has pulley without covers and run 30-50K+ before lubricant dried out? IMHO those covers do not protect much... The back of pulley is open anyway.

Help needed! I have had a new tensioner and tensioner pulley along with a new serpentine belt installed just recently to alieve the loud squealing noise coming from the belt. It quieted the noise a considerable amount, BUT there is still some squeal coming from some other place. Any ideas what to check or replace next? Vacuum pump?

I have removed the stock alternator brack with belt tensioner and replaced with an aftermarket alternator bracket. I'm experiencing belt squeal and have tightened the belt up multiple times, but still get it. I'm concerned with overtightening the belt. How can I tell if I may have excessive belt tension?

My 24 year old son in law has a 1997 Contour GL with a 4 cylinder engine. The car is making a load squaling noise and it sounds like the belt tensioner bearing is going out. Would any one have any tipe for replacing the tensioner? Was a little chilly and rainy to look at it today. I will pull it in the garage and take a peek at it tomorrow Looks like a bear to replace from the top. maybe remove ...

My 89's alternator took a crap. I have a spare 4.0 out of an 99' sitting in my shop with alternator and bracket. Obviously the mounting bracket changed over the years. I also noticed the newer alternator sheave is a smaller diameter than the older alternator. Obviously Jeep changed the belt lengths over the years, so my question is, is the 99' belt that much shorter? If so than I probably ...
I acquired a 30,000 mile 6.2L diesel in an 84 Chevy 2wd suburban 1/2 ton. The truck was a barn find of a friend of mine who wants a 350 4bbl THM 400 setup, and had no need for the diesel, so I got it for $50. I truly believe it is 30,000 miles, because this truck is mint! It looks showroom fresh, is all original (even original tires!), and I have all the items to put it back together as a J ...
