There is no legal definition of 'demotion' in uk employment law. Does anyone have any examples of reducing seniority or demoting an employee outside of a disciplinary procedure? If so what legal advice did you follow?

How does your agency handle seniority? Like many places Iowa is in a budget crunch and were looking at laying off a load of LEOs. As with most union shops seniority is king here. What does your department do for the tie breakers for those who have the same hire date or sworn date? Ours uses the last 4 of your SSN and the high numbers are SOL which seems pretty random and ridiculous. A few of us ...

I work have worked as a per diem RN in California for almost 20 years at the same hospital. I am not in a union. When I first became per diem, I was cancelled. The excuse for canceling me first was that I was least senior. Now that I am senior, I still get cancelled. Now it is arbitrary. My employer has stated that since we are not union, they don't have to cancel by using seniority. Is ...

This photo was taken back at the first football game. At our high school, all the seniors wear togas and dress like Romans for the first home game. This guy is like the leader of school spirit at our school. He's very involved. I need to get a few posts under my belt, so I thought I'd see what people thought of this

Airline Pilot - Trade or Profession? The thread on D/E Captains at VB has taken an interesting twist with a suggestion that seniority systems drive down pay and conditions. I thought that it might warrant a separate thread, particularly as: a) It is topical b) Underlying the world economic situation, there is a latent massive...
I don't think people are being realistic by saying that this dismissal is going to result in teachers leaving the district. With budgets tight like they are across the state, any teacher with a job, particularly a tenured job with substantial seniority, is not going anywhere. The only people who will be moving on are the folks on the bottom of the seniority list---if the district has to layoff ...

I am new here and need advice. Upon becoming an p/t air driver and then a p/t cover driver can I assume that upon my first wage progression that I am given a seniority date for that job classification? The National agreement calls it a seniority date, but am told otherwise. Your thoughts?

Hi All, apologies if this has been discussed ad infinitum, did a search, but didn't find any relevant threads. My wife is looking to move to Virgin America from Airtran. Any info on conditions, bases, transfer of seniority, perks, etc etc ? Or anywhere that would be a good resource to get some info. Cheers, Blue.

Okay....this may be stupid to ask...but here goes. Anyone have any clue what seniority holds Christmas and New Years Eve off in IAH? Or more specifically...I am a towards the end of 98....any clue what I can hold or even look at in IAH? I don't want to waste my time bidding ridiculous dream bids. What about flying in or out on Christmas Day and arriving in on New Years eve day? Any ...

...and framing someone else for it? What if a neocon administration headed by a Bush or Cheney had been in the White House in 1962, instead of Kennedy? Would a top secret plan called Operation Northwoods, which was written and signed off by the military seniority at the time, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, have moved forward into action? No doubt. These unclassified and ...
