Is the main issue with the 2004 transmissions within second gear? Grinding Second Gear Im grinding second gear every one in a while but i dont feel my clutch slipping. also when i had new tires on it was doing in eveytime. i was running Tsl 33X 12.50. so i took them off and but back on bfg 32X11.50. any body got info why this would happen.

My Transmission performs great in first gear and in third but second seems to be completely missing. When I place the shifter in Drive and let it shift automatically it starts in 1st and then goes to 3rd (skipping 2nd entirely) no slipping between gears, nice and crisp, just no 2nd. If I switch from my 3 to a 4 sp tranny is it reasonable to do 2nd gear starts in the city with a stock 67 (F motor, 31 tires.) ? I do alot of bopping about in town and wonder if I will miss the economy of effort with the 3sp, less stirring of the pot. Am I being petty? Lazy more probably..haha. Please feel free to opine.

I find on my 690 smc that I have to attempt clutch wheelies below 4K rpm in third and below 5K in second, otherwise I hit the rev limiter and get weak sauce hops. Transmissions in htat range had the second gear checked for overheating from lack of lubrication. A jet was installed in the fill port to lubricate the gear to eliminate the problem. Got the car back last night. Gearbox was stripped and photographed. Photos sent to Honda. From the pictures no wear or damage could be seen. The dealer replaced two bearings and snynchro on second and third gears. Whine appears to have gone but everyone is at a loss as to what the cause was. Great service from my dealer (Brindley Honda Cannock) as always.
