Hello Linux folk I have a Sony Vaio VGN-S28GP where the Radeon chip packed it in last year. I have installed Ubuntu 9.04 and it works fine in the default vesa failsafe setup, but is stuck at 800x600, although the display area can be 1280x768. In XP I can get 1024x800. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to bump up the display resolution? Here's a few diagnostics: Code: ...

I'm trying to figure out what would be the best screen resolution for a 15-16'' screen. Will mostly be doing photo/video editing as well as some gaming (although not much). Also, I noticed the MBP screen has a 1440-by-900 resolution, while most high performance pc notebooks only come with higher resolution screens (1600x900 or above). Why that? Will appreciate any advise.

Windows 7 on a new Toshiba Satellite Intel Core Duo 4GB 64 bit O/S. Have checked all Toshiba settings are at default. The information displayed on full screen setting is too large for the display area, hiding a few cm all around. The right side scroll bar is barely visible and the show desktop button is hidden, the min/max/close buttons are just barely visible, same with left side of screen, ...

I have just had a call from my neighbour who has been having problems with the Screen resolution on his computer for the last couple of months. He has tried PC world without success they only suggested that it was set to go to sleep too quickly. He altered the setting to no effect. Apparently he has had a go at going back to earlier restore points to no effect. He is using Windows XP sp2,...

Help! I've added your plugin into a site of mine and am having the same problem as a few other people where my screen gets horizontally pushed out & I can't figure out how to get rid of it. Has anybody fixed this problem yet? Besides this the plugin is working great, let me know if somebody has already a fix to this problem elsewhere. Thanks. My unique plugin id# is: 1289

Hi All I'm wondering what screen resolutions, and particularly whether widescreen/standard formats you are al using on your pc & laptops. For years it's all been whether 800x600 or 1024x768. That was fine for 15.4" laptops etc but it has changed a lot in the last couple of years with a move to 17"+ standard laptop screens & 19-21" monitors. After doing mainly backend systems for a ...

I have recently downgraded from a 18inch to a 17inch screen, and have noticed that the webpages are too big for my 17inch - that I have to scroll across pages to read. It never happened to me when I was on my 18inch, with resolution set on 800x600. The only option I have is to adjust my resolution, changing from 800x600 to1024x768..but I'm so used to working on ...

The computer boots up with a screen resolution of 640X480 instead of 1680X1050. After adjusting the screen resolution to 1680X1050 everything is fine. If I try to use the virtual keyboard in Kaspersky, it reverts to 640X480. If I close the virtual keyboard the resolution goes back to 1680X1050. Any thoughts?

I just installed Windows 7 on a Dell Dimension 4600 with an integrated video card. Now, the standard VGA adapter driver is in use and I am unable to adjust the screen resolution. I am stuck with 640x480. Worked fine with Vista, but not with Windows 7 The Dell website did not have a driver listed for Vista or Windows 7. 1 person needs an answer I do too

Hi, Apologies for such a basic question but this is starting to annoy me now. The default screen resolution on my PC is 1024 x 768 but I prefer 1152 x 864. Irritatingly I have to manual modify the resolution every time I log on and I can't see an obvious way to change the default setting. The OS is XP and the video card is an NVidia GeForce 7600 GS. the easiest way to do so is using terminal. Run terminal and type Code: cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf It will give you a lot of lines of output. Lines beginning with # are ignored, so ignore them as well. There should be several sections in the output, like Section "Monitor", Section "Screen", etc. Find Section "Device" (which should correctly describe your graphic card) and inside ...
