Hi, I want to display two values with the scientific notation in a way, that both of the values have the same fixed exponent value, i.e.: x=2345,5 y=0,897 Should be displayed as: x=2,3455e3 y=0,000897e3 Any suggestions?

Hello - I am saving an HTML table as Excel sheet and Excel converts all long nunbers into exponential format(scientific notation) and I would like to keep the as is. If I enclose the number in quotes or prefix it with a single quote then the number shows fine, but it doesn't look good. Is there a better way to handle this data? Does Excel use "E+" and "E-" for scientific notation for all locales? Or are there some locales for which it uses different characters? Thanks, Greg

Dear all, I'd like to know if this is possible to easily convert a numeric value which is expressed in a scientific notation (read from a CSV file) to the normal integer notation (bestXX. format would be great). An example of value I'd like to convert is: 7.4999925E12. It would be great if the conversion process could detect the exponential value (12 in my example). I ...

What is this number?: 1.0e+799 Please do not respond that the number 1.0e+799 is, in fact, the number 1.0e+799. I know that but that doesn't help. I understand nomenclature like x times 10 to the 799th power, or even "e" times something to the something'th power, if it is explained in rather careful terms. ("e" is the natural whatchamacallit and its value by itself is, like, ...

Hi, To meet your original request that the numbers should display the same fixed exponent, then the numbers should look like the following 2.3455E+3 897.0-3 You can get these by formatting the numbers with ##0.###0E+0 You'll need to replace the "." ,which in my regional settings is the decimal point, with your local setting - presumably the "," Rgds
