I have a person at Schwab that has dealt with everything I have asked for......that became particularly important when my sister had troubles dealing with transfer of assets from my mothers estate.......sometimes those things make up for a lot more than minimizing costs of a trade, however, I don't make 8k trades a year either. LOL

Hi pantera, Schwab is lowering commissions for inactive traders/investors. Active traders are already getting $8.95 per trade. Still not bad, and excellent service I feel they provide. I've been happy with Schwab for many years now.

Yep Schwab was advertising a 2% rebate card at low interest rate, so I signed up for that one.... They don't just start the rebate when you get the card, you have to sign up for it.... I am like you pay off my card, you get to pay off the balance 3 times a month only, so I overpay to keep my balance negative, then get the 2%...... I do like the "free" money in my account at the first of each ...

Effective 1/19/2010, Schwab is lowering commission on stock trades to $8.95 (from $12.95). http://www.businesswire.com/po....0107005881 Between this, the commission-free ETFs, and my beloved 2% cash back credit card, Schwab is looking better and better. _________________ Oblivious Investing: Diversify. My Schwab and tdAmeritrade accounts are handled differently when I use the comparison feature under the investment tabs to compare the accounts to an index. When I choose "All Investments" or "TDAmeritrade" there are two rising jagged lines, one for the Dow Jones and one for the brokerage account. However, when I choose "Schwab" I get a rising jagged line for the Dow Jones but the Schwab ...

In the past few weeks it seems that I can only get my Schwab brokerage accounts to update one time per day, around 11PM or later. Has Schwab limited the number of times that Mint can access it or is there some other problem?

I am having a problem with my Schwab bank accounts. There is an error to try again in a few minutes, this is when I am doing a manual update. Is anyone else having this problem? It has been going on for 2 weeks. Mint support is aware and have no resolution yet.

re Investment software: I dropped my Esignal investment software. Too many glitzes and expensive. Since then I have been using Schwab StreetSmart Pro. Its free with a Schwab account. Now that I've learned to use it, its much superior to Esignal. Yell, if any of you are using it. I have learned some tricks that really make it powerful.... Yank

The series 7 can open some doors but what if you do not have a bacheloors degree? I have trading experience but was thinking of a firm that will give me a broker trainee position or something similar. I was looking into charles schwab but was denied. For a moment thought they said yes until I reread. The sad part is that I could pass the 7 in five weeks.

picked up a copy of "Money" to look at while waiting "end of decade" review ( two market crashes, BUT if you'd done xyz, you'd be UP 4.3% (per year?) ) what caught my attention --an article on Schwab ..one of the early on-line brokers ..caters to "self-directed investor" ,but ,after two crashes -- "that's a teeny tiny market" (so they're looking at ways to give inexpensive advice)...
