i'm similar, except even before i had kids i had stepped away form the TT career stuff (left BigLaw). i'm happy with that because i much prefer the work I do now and I have more flexibility to do family things. But my views have shifted as my kids grew up; if yours are still babies, the balancing is much harder.

What really wakes me up and gets me pumped for work in the morning is listening to "Debaser" by the Pixies. I just turn the volume up really high in my car and rock out.
