I spent a ton of money on this scanner in 2001 - over $700. Since replacing laptop (also HP) which came with Vista operating system this scanner is evidently no longer supported. It operates fine except that the scan comes out black. Research says Vista OS is not supported. Is there a driver out there somewhere that would work.

Have had this scanner for 6 months. Stopped working today. Have unloaded and loaded program several times using disk provided. Seems to install fine. When I launch the program, window comes up which says device not found. Have gone through the 4 steps suggested to fix issue and nothing resolves it. I have a Photosmart c4385 All-in-one and a Scanjet G4050 running under XP. Under XP they are not compatible with each other. You are right Toyota_Ed. The Vista install worked on my windows 7. I didn't download the software as you suggested but instead used my installation CD.
